Quality Policy

It is the commitment of Hot Metal Molding, Inc. to produce a quality product at a reasonable cost with on-time delivery and customer satisfaction, within an environment that promotes teamwork and individual responsibility in safety, quality and efficiency, while continuing to improve our financial stability.

As a supplier of semi solid materials to the automotive industry Hot Metal Molding, Inc. was required to obtain certification to "ISO 9002;1994 & QS 9000; 1998 third edition" series of standards. Certification to these series of standards ensures customers and potential customers that a company has a formal quality system that is compliant to the International Organization for Standardization guidelines and to the extent that it meets automotive industry expectations.

After 18 months of strenuous effort the HMM team achieved the "recommendation for certification". March 26, 1999 we received the ISO 9002;1994 certificate then, one month later, April 28, 1999, we received our QS 9000;1998 certificate.

In addition to our Quality System certifications we have received the "Self Certification" approvals for three products supplied to General Motors. The "Self Certification" recognition is given to suppliers by General Motors for maintaining a high quality status.

The automotive customers monitor their suppliers on a monthly basis via a "Supplier Rating/Performance Report". This report is measured by the "Returned Rejects Parts Per Million" (RRPPM) system. The calculation takes
the accumulated number of parts delivered and the number of rejects then calculates to determine the number of rejects probable within 1,000,000 parts delivered. The requirement from the customer is to maintain no more than a 25 RRPPM. In the past, Hot Metal Molding had not been able to maintain this requirement, although, since November of 1998 we have maintained a RRPPM less than the 25 requirement for the past 6 months we have maintained a "1" rating. With all of these achievements, QS-9000 certificate, the parts certifications, excellent performance rating, Hot Metal Molding is now being recognized by General Motors as the "Model Company" for Quality Systems.

During the later part of last year, Hot Metal Molding, Inc. received the prestigious "Most Improved Supplier for 1999" award from JCI.

The results of customer satisfaction are evident and the efforts of everyone's participation has paid off.

The quality assurance group's main function is to ensure that customer expectations are met! Inspection and testing is performed on a continuous basis throughout all stages, from receipt of raw material through delivery of finished product to customer feedback.

Hot Metal Moldings quality team takes pride in their accuracy in measurement and data reporting techniques.

The department's Quality Engineer ensures that collected data is presented correctly and monitored to identify trends that may highlight potential problems and/or identify solutions for continuous improvement.

 The management team also recognizes the benefit of a formal documented quality system. Document & Data Control; Contract Review; Purchasing; Process Control; Inspection & Testing; Calibration Control; Control of Non-Conforming; Corrective & Preventive Actions; Handling, Storage, Packaging, Preservation and Delivery; Control of Quality Records; Training; and Statistical Techniques are some of the tools used. The effectiveness of the quality system is measured on a continuous basis via our"Internal Audit" system and is reviewed on a weekly basis at the "Monthly Management Review" meetings and, on a broader scale, at our "Tertiary Management Review" meetings. Then, on an annual basis, the results of the previous year's activities are covered at the "Annual Management Review" meeting.
